We acknowledge and respect the Traditional Owners of the Lands, the Darug, Gundungurra, D’harawal, Wiradjuri, and Bundjalung Peoples, upon which our campuses now stand. We continue to value the generations of knowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples embed within our university.
A quest to reach our full potential
I have worked with people from different backgrounds, cultures, and life experiences. Having built my career in professions requiring listening and relationship-building skills has taught me about the struggles and challenges that we all face at various stages of life.
My work overseas exposed me to different cultures and to the difficulties of adjusting from one country to another. Language barriers, cultural differences, and societal expectations are just some of the obstacles I have had to overcome in order to deliver value to individuals, groups, and organisations I have engaged with at both a professional and personal level. I speak fluent French, which continues to add to the richness and variety of my life and my learning along the way.
For over twenty years, psychology and counselling have added an important and meaningful dimension to my professional life, and I have found my vocation today. I feel privileged to provide help, care, and support to you, the individual.
Merging fitness with counselling and psychology.
I typically coasted through life as a young person by doing what I believed was required of me. I had no clear direction or goal for myself.
I arrived in Australia determined to leave behind my knowledge and expertise in economics and try something entirely different, but… I did not know exactly what.
I discovered my passion for helping others after working with children and adults with disabilities. During that time, I studied fitness and exercise science to become a personal trainer, and I enrolled in a year-long speciality course to open my Pilates studio.
In my quest to aid others, the concept of mind-body balance came to me as a new philosophy through Pilates. It’s true that the science of fitness, power, performance, and endurance, as well as nutrition, provides much to enable people to live a higher quality life, but what about the mind?
When I registered at the university twenty years ago, everything became clear to me. I studied social sciences, majoring in psychology, and went on to complete a degree in rehabilitation counselling at Sydney University.
Finally, I successfully completed my second postgraduate degree, earning a master’s in psychotherapy and counselling.
